I attended my cervical screening this month and all was OK. It was a little uncomfortable at first but the nurse switched to a small speculum to make it more comfortable for me. Please do speak to the nurse if you experience any discomfort. The screening process only lasts 5-10 minutes and I received my results within 2 weeks.

I’ve had several smear tests and none have caused me any pain or discomfort. I do get nervous beforehand as I have had changes that required treatment, however that wasn’t painful either and I’d rather that than the alternative of not knowing and it turning into something potentially life changing.
Don’t put it off ladies it only takes five minutes.

I had yearly smear tests for 10 years due to having had treatment for abnormal cells and I’d sooner go for a smear than a visit to the dentist.

Just had my smear test done. I’d put it off for ages cos I was worried it would hurt and I was too scared.
It was all over and done with in a few minutes, the nurse was lovely and made me feel relaxed.
I could kick myself now for putting it off as long as I did. Please dont be embarrassed, go for your smear ladies!!!

I was a few months off turning 25 when I was invited for my smear, it wasn’t at all painful and was over within 5 minutes. My results came back as abnormal and therefore I had to have the pre-cancerous cells removed. I’m back in May for my 6 monthly check up to see if everything has stayed clear. I’m so glad I went for my smear when I did because who knows what the circumstances could be now! Please don’t ignore your smear invites they are too important to miss!

My smear was actually really quick and painless. The nurse was really reassuring and I’m so glad I went as they found changes. I had those cells removed and am really pleased with the service.

I’ve had several smear tests and they’ve all been OK. It was a bit uncomfortable once so I told the nurse and she switched to a smaller speculum. There are lots of different sizes and your smear shouldn’t be painful, so speak up if it hurts!

I arranged something nice to do after my smear so I had something to look forward to.

I put off having my smear test for years because I was really nervous and embarrassed. I finally booked one and went last week – it was nowhere near as bad as I thought. The nurse was really understanding and helped me relax by telling me what was involved. I was in and out in five minutes.
