Doncaster Rovers Belles have kicked off their support for the Fear or Smear campaign in a bid to encourage their female fans to attend their cervical screening appointments.
Throughout Cervical Screening Awareness week in June members of the squad were retweeting photos of them supporting the campaign and sharing what their general fears were to highlight there’s no reason to fear attending your smear test.
Julie Grundy, Doncaster Belles’ first team assistant coach, said: “I encourage all women to attend their cervical screening appointment, it’s imperative you go as it’s better to detect at an early stage. I had abnormal cells picked up and so I’m so glad I went for screening. My fear is snakes and I am much more scared of these than attending my appointment.”
